Since founding Frack Free Colorado http://www.frackfreecolorado.com/ in the Fall of 2012 with Allison Wolff, founder of Vibrant Planet, and Casey Sheahan, retired CEO of Patagonia, and my former husband, our state has really stepped up to usher in new forms of renewable energy. This was our goal — to encourage oil and gas companies to explore renewable energy options, and to get citizens motivated to make renewable energy choices.
Communities like Boulder, Longmont, and Fort Collins voted to place a moratorium on fracking after after our event on the steps of the state capitol. Thanks to Razz Gromley, our director at FFCO, here’s more great news:
‘An organization called Coloradans Resisting Extreme Energy Development (CREED) has formed to advance two statewide ballot initiatives in 2016– both of which would amend our constitution to guarantee protection for all Coloradans and our environment from runaway Oil & Gas development. Activists from around the state have been teaming up to apply pressure on the BLM in an effort to end fossil fuel extraction on our public lands at the federal level. Aspen is really leading the way, with 100% of their electricity already coming from renewable sources.’
Thanks to everyone who works for change, so we leave our planet campground cleaner and greener for the generations to come.
